“Home Office”
Working from home is becoming a more viable and a practical way of life for many of us. Creating a space in our in home with a more conducive working environment, rather than using the busy kitchen’s table or countertop, is sometimes necessary for greater productivity. That’s why we see many new homes today having floor plans which include an office or den space.
A converted spare bedroom dedicated to a home office needed a new location for many reasons. Whether its requiring more space, or simply changing its location to better meet ones needs it can be a challenge depending on your home’s existing layout. Changing the location of this home office from the third floor to a room above the garage made the most sense. An area once dedicated for the home gym and large exercise equipment because of its sheer size and layout, was the ideal space to relocate this home office. Entering into the home from the front foyer one used to see a gym at the stairs, almost unsightly when you consider this upper scale home.
Changing the location of the gym (purposely planned into a new area in the basement addition renovation), a home office would now be a more pleasing sight upon entering. A large room often called the Media Room/ In-Law Suite, was now converted into a more productive home office. With areas dedicated to separate tasks like drafting, a research library, a layout/meeting table, computer office desk, filing and storage and even a dedicated escape lounge, (utilizing the wall mounted TV previously installed in the gym). When needed, a sofa that transforms into an additional extra bed, easily bringing this room back into the temporary purpose of an In-Law suite. A great convenience having its own bathroom in the room, and an even great opportunity to think out side of the box when decorating it.
When an office is in the home it doesn’t always have to be so formal (as in the den of this home already), a fun “black & white” color scheme with decor details referencing dogs make working from home an upbeat and inspiring place. The right location, meeting the office needs, combining aesthetics inside without impacting the surrounding rooms all achieved in this home office relocation.
